How To Create A ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ Desktop Shortcut
Step 1 – Right click on the desktop, select ‘New’.
Step 2 – Choose ‘Shortcut’
Step 3 – Copy and paste the following text into the dialog box ‘RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll‘. Click next to create the shortcut.
Step 4 – The new shortcut will appear, to manually eject your USB, double click on the icon and then choose from the list.
This tutorial has been tested with Windows 7, I believe it works well with Windows Vista. Am not too sure about Windows XP.
